The unique and thrilled experience in Chubu region:-

 KAWAGOE, Saitama Prefecture

~ A Little Edo City ~

Kawagoe is called as Koedo in Japanese, means "Little Edo", is a charming city in Saitama Prefecture. It is about one hour by train from Tokyo, known for its well-preserved Edo-period (1603- 1867) architecture and historical sites.

We enjoyed the brief walk along the Kurazukuri Street, the district is lined with old clay-walled storehouses, is looked unique and vintage.
Not to be missed, the iconic bell tower "Toki no Kane" (the Time Bell)  that has been a symbol of Kawagoe for centuries. Since the beginning of Edo period until now, the bell still ringing four times daily.
Kawagoe is also known for its delicious sweet potatoes. So, we had tried the sweet potato with soft ice cream!

HAKONE, Kanagawa Prefecture

~ A Beautiful Town ~

Hakone is a beautiful town in Kanagawa Prefecture, Japan, known for its hot springs, stunning natural scenery, and views of Mount Fuji. It's part of the Fuji-Hakone-Izu National Park and is a popular destination for both Japanese and international tourists looking for a relaxing getaway from Tokyo.

In Hakone area, by train, ropeway, cruise or hiking for you to enjoy the nature.

Here are some highlights of Hakone that we did:

1) Ride Pirate-themed Ship on Lake Ashi

The picturesque crater Ashinoko or Lake Ashi, formed about 3,000 years ago after a volcanic eruption. It offers boat cruises with breathtaking views of Mount Fuji on clear days.

We got the chance to ride on a 30 minutes pirate-themed ship (a sightseeing cruise) from Hakonemachi-ko to Togendai-ko. From the cruise, we enjoyed the view, but we had no luck to see Mount Fuji.

After spent about 15 minutes at Owakudani valley, we departed to Sounzan by ropeway from Togendai.

Please note, to those with respiratory or lung problems should avoid Owakudani, as the sulfuric gases can be irritating on certain days.

2) Owakudani Volcano and kuro tamago tasting

By Hakone Ropeway from Togendai to Owakudani, we could enjoy for a panoramic view of the area in Owakudani, a volcanic valley with active sulfur vents and hot springs.

One of the attraction in Owakudani is kuro tamago or black eggs. These are normal chicken eggs boiled in the natural hot springs of the valley. The sulfur in the water turns the eggshells black.

UMIHOTARU PARKING AREA

~ Enjoy a stunning views of Tokyo Bay ~

The Umihotaru Parking Area is a unique spot located on the Tokyo Bay Aqua-Line, connecting Kawasaki City, Kanagawa Prefecture and Kisarazu City, Chiba Prefecture. It's built on a 650-meter-long artificial island, offering stunning 360º views of Tokyo Bay.

This five-level structure has parking lots on the first three levels and various commercial facilities on the fourth and fifth levels. You can find a variety of shops, restaurants, and even a foot bath to relax while enjoying the sea view.

We took a short break there to enjoy the view, and then washroom, coffee and souvenirs. Our tour guide keep saying that she feel thankful to the Japan's technologies, because by building up the Tokyo Bay Aqualine Tunnel, it makes the journey by car from Yokohama City (her current home) to Chiba City (her hometown) became short.
