Updates on spots for Muslim Travellers

Japan continues to enhance its Muslim-friendly offerings from dining options to prayer spaces across top destinations and hidden gems.

 

JNTO Kuala Lumpur is excited to share the latest updates for the Muslim travellers exploring Japan.

 

We hope these updates help make your journey in Japan smoother and more fulfilling as a Muslim! Being a traveller in Japan, does not mean to pause you being a Muslim.

Hotel Granvia Okayama

Muslim-friendly menu at Applause Restaurant

Teppanyaki Bisai Restaurant

The hotel has recently refreshed its Muslim-friendly dinner menu at the Applause Restaurant. The beef in the menu is not halal-certified beef, but their dishes not contain pork and alcohol. 

 

The hotel has also offering Muslim-friendly teppanyaki course at Teppanyaki Bisai Restaurant, and the menu not contain meat.

 

Both restaurants are located on the 19th floor of the hotel.

Please note, the Muslim-friendly menus are required you to book in advanced at least 3 days prior to your dining date.

 

For the breakfast buffet, besides plenty of delicious vegetarian options menu, the hotel also provides menu with signs indicating whether alcohol or pork are included in the menu or not for the convenience of the Muslim guests.

The hotel also offers a dedicated prayer room on the second floor. Prayer mats and the qibla direction compasses are available at the front desk upon request.

Krishna Restaurant, Fuji-Q Highland Resort Hotel & Spa

For the vegetarian or Muslim travellers, you can experience the authentic Indian cuisine with a stunning view of Mount Fuji at Krishna Restaurant, located inside Fuji-Q Highland Resort Hotel & Spa.

 

They can offer vegetarian, non-vegetarian and Muslim-friendly menu. Please deal and make reservation with them in advance. 

 

You will enjoy the venue with unforgettable breathtaking scenery.

Seibu Prince Hotels & Resorts 

Under Seibu Prince Hotels & Resorts group, some of the hotels and resorts have put effort to welcome more international visitors including Muslim travellers.  Generally, their services may vary by location. It is important to get confirm with the specific hotel or resort that you will be stayed at.

Some of the hotels or resorts that are offering Muslim-friendly services as below for your reference.

1) SUNSHINE CITY PRINCE HOTEL
The hotel is located in the Ikebukuro area, and has good access to Narita Airport and Haneda Airport. 
 
After major renovation in April 2019, they offer a unique floor concept, where guests interested in Japanese pop culture, anime and manga can immerse themselves in this unique subcultures.

For Muslim visitors, the hotel offers prayer room, with prayer mats and wudhu space (to wash face, hands and feets).

 

At the breakfast buffet, the hotel provides menus with labels/ pictograms to help vegetarians, vegans, Muslims and others  choose based on their dietary needs.

2) SHINAGAWA PRINCE HOTEL

Shinagawa Prince Hotel is an entertainment hotel, located in the city and two minutes walk from the Shinagawa Station.

 

The hotel offers a full complement of entertainment facilities, including an aquarium, a movie theatre and a bowling center.

The hotel provides prayer rooms, separated rooms for male and female. The prayer rooms are located on first floor of the lodging building. You need to notify their front staff before using the rooms.

The hotel has a restaurant that can provide halal dietary menu. Its name is "Garden" and serves Indian cuisine.

The chef is originally from India.

Breakfast is not typically served in there.

Since this is not a directly managed Prince Hotel property, please contact the restaurant directly if necessary.

3) RYUGUDEN (RYOKAN)

If you are planning a trip to Hakone, you can consider experience to stay at Ryuguden, a traditional Japanese Ryokan.

It is located on the shore of Lake Ashi, offering a stunning views of Mount Hakone's caldera, and the spectacular sights of Mount Fuji.

For Muslim travellers, you can choose to enjoy one of three private hot springs in the guest rooms. 

Prayer room can be provided upon request. Feel free to ask in advance!

At this moment the ryokan can only caters to the guest with allergies for food arrangement.
