Hyogo – Kinosaki Onsen: A Cozy Hot Spring Getaway
Kinosaki Onsen is a 1300-year-old hot spring town just 2.5 hours from Kyoto and 3 hours from Osaka by JR train. With 7 public bathhouses and surrounded by beautiful mountains and the Sea of Japan, this onsen town and its surrounding areas are a quiet, relaxing place away from the hustle and bustle of the cities. Visitors stroll through town in yukata (light cotton kimono) along the picturesque canal and go onsen-hopping.

Kochi – Iwamoto-ji Temple
Ohenro is the traditional name for the Shikoku Pilgrimage, the journey to 88 temples around the island taken by the Buddhist monk Kukai around 1200 years ago. One does not have to be a Buddhist to walk this pilgrimage, everyone is welcome to follow in the footsteps of Kukai, regardless of nationality or religion. Among the 16 temples in Kochi Prefecture, the 37th temple Iwamoto-ji is one of few temples offering the stay and its inner hall ceiling with 575 paintings is noteworthy. Recently it started to offer various experience programs including homa rituals to temple yoga!
