Kochi Prefecture – Washi Paper Making

Trying local hands-on experiences is part of the delight of travel so how about a traditional paper or washi-making workshop under the guidance of Dutch washi artist, Rogier?
Kochi has been one of Japan's premier paper-making prefectures and Tosa washi (Tosa is an old name of the prefecture) with 1,100 years of history is designated as National Traditional Craft. He runs a paper-making studio with his family and accommodations (B&B) in Yusuhara Town, known for Kengo Kuma’s architecture. The materials and the paper-making method are eco-friendly, without modern chemicals or industrial machinery.
